Today I want to focus on intervals. What can be an interval, you may ask? An interval would be the space between two notes. Let’s take apple iphone 4 C Major scale for example what I mean. The distance between C plus the D inside the C Major scale is really a second. D could be the second note inside the scale. Follow same logic and you should find that C to E is often a third, C to F is usually a fourth, C to G is usually a fifth, C to A can be a sixth, C to B can be a seventh, and C to another C is undoubtedly an eighth. An interval of the eighth is usually called an octave.

Now you understand all in the major intervals in the C Major scale, but think about the sharps plus the flats? Let’s take a peek at those intervals now. I said previously how the interval involving the C along with the D is usually a second. Let’s take that your step further and think of it as a major second. If you glance at the keyboard, you’ll recognize that there can be a black key in involving the C plus the D keys, the D flat key. This interval just isn’t quite a full, or major second, so we it is known as a minor second. The same goes for your interval between C and E. There is really a black key right in front of the E key. If the E key can be a major third, we can easily call the black key directly before it, the E flat key, the minor third.

Ok, so I’ve said what happens once we go down a partial interval. What happens if the black key climbs up a partial interval? This thing happens in the G key. The interval between C and G is really a fourth. The G sharp secret’s what we call an augmented fourth. Augmented only denotes that it is slightly above a perfect fourth. That same key may also be called a diminished fifth. This is because the note is simply as close the an ideal fifth since it is to an ideal fourth. In the case in the fifth, the note is leaner than perfect, or diminished.

This logic can be applied all the way up throughout the scale. The A flat key is really a minor sixth prior to the major sixth manufactured by the A key. The A flat key can even be called an augmented fifth, since it is right after an ideal fifth. If the interval between C and B can be a major seventh, it will reason the interval between C to B flat is often a minor seventh.

This can all seem a tad overwhelming in the beginning, and I’ll enter more depth by it in later lessons. For now, I strongly encourage one to re-watch the recording or re-read the written text as much as essential to get at least an elementary grasp on intervals. Intervals are not only seen very important play blocks of chords, but an increased knowledge of intervals and exactly how they refer to one another could have a profound effect on your ability to generate melodies or play them by ear.

Next, you are able to further knowing about it of piano rests.
